Small Axe Programme @1145

Roll up! Roll up! More Small Axe radical and activist short films await in the Vintage Mobile Cinema on the south west of the site. Two films will screen at 1145. First we have Embers of War (dir. Ting Tu), a fiction and documentary combo that introduces us to the bombings in Chongqing, Republic of China (1943) carried out by the Japanese Imperial Army. Secondly, we have Heavy: The Tale of Two Junkies (dir. Benjamin Rummans) that takes on the alienating rhetoric of successive US governments in the form of direct address with two drug addicts. Make sure to check out our reviews of both the films on the Small Axe website.
